Cameras from “Safe City” are being tested in Ohër, with full implementation expected throughout the city soon.

The “Safe City” monitoring system in the Ohrid region is completing its final stages of preparation in anticipation of the peak summer tourist season. Authorities conducted technical tests on the surveillance cameras across several key areas. Testing was performed in the Raça settlement, along the main thoroughfare leading to the beaches and St.

Naum, and at the primary entrance to Ohrid arriving from the Monastery direction. The Ohrid Police Department has announced that the integrated system is expected to become fully operational shortly. This development is of significant importance to the daily flow of thousands of domestic and international tourists who visit the area throughout July and August.

Furthermore, the enhanced monitoring is intended to support the local residents, given that these specific traffic corridors experience high volumes of traffic during the summer months. According to Stefan Dimoski, a spokesperson for the Ohrid Police Department, the technical verification of the cameras at the identified locations has concluded. Following comprehensive assessments and expert team recommendations, the system is slated for full activation.

The implementation of this advanced monitoring technology aims to improve public safety and traffic management throughout the city of Ohrid, ensuring a more secure environment for visitors and inhabitants alike as the tourist season intensifies.
