The Kosovo Police reported the successful prevention of a significant smuggling operation within the municipality of Viti. Authorities confirmed the seizure of a substantial quantity of processed tobacco following an intelligence-led operation. According to the police statement, the Task Force – DRK South unit initiated the action after receiving operational intelligence indicating that smuggled goods, allegedly originating from the Republic of North Macedonia, were concealed within an uninhabited residence in Kosovo.
Following the intervention, the premises were inspected under the authorization of the competent prosecutor. During this inspection, officers discovered and subsequently seized approximately 300 kilograms of processed tobacco, materials deemed ready for market distribution. Officials estimated that the total value of the confiscated goods amounts to approximately 6,000 euros.
Furthermore, authorities calculated that the evaded customs and excise duties associated with the contraband total around 12,000 euros. The recovered tobacco and associated materials were officially handed over to the relevant authorities for further processing.
