Prime Minister Albin Kurti reported significant increases in Kosovo’s military capacity during his first term. He stated that over 2,700 new soldiers have been recruited, noting that the overall number of troops has more than doubled. Kurti highlighted substantial growth in armament investments, providing a financial comparison.
He noted that investments between 2018 and 2020 totaled less than four million euros, whereas the period from 2021 to 2025 saw investments amounting to approximately 430 million euros. Furthermore, Kurti announced the commencement of a competition starting June 1st. This competition will select 44 new cadets who will receive opportunities for military education.
These educational placements will take place at institutions beyond the Center for University Studies in Kosovo. The program also includes partnerships with regional academies in Albania, Turkey, Croatia, and North Macedonia. These developments indicate a strategic focus on modernizing and expanding the nation’s defense capabilities.
