Kosovo Customs authorities discovered 23,500 euros in undeclared funds during a routine vehicle inspection at the Merdarë Border Crossing. According to an official notice from the customs agency, the vehicle was selected for detailed review following an initial risk analysis assessment. The process involved a joint inspection conducted by customs officers and Border Police.
Following the initial screening and an interview with the traveler, the vehicle underwent a thorough physical inspection. During this joint examination, authorities located 10,000 euros within the traveler’s personal bag. Furthermore, an additional 13,500 euros were discovered concealed within envelopes inside a compartment belonging to the vehicle.
In total, the sum of undeclared currency identified amounted to 23,500 euros. Customs noted that while the cash was found undeclared, the individual presented documentation intended to verify the legal provenance of the funds. This documentation included a notarized contract pertaining to the sale of property.
