Developments in Pristina, Abdixhiku: No agreement with PDK, Rama was an independent candidate on the LDK list.

LDK Leader Comments on Pristina Municipal Agreement

Pristina – The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, addressed recent developments within the Pristina Municipality following a newly established agreement between the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Mayor Përmban Rama. The agreement focuses on the division of directorial roles and establishes a co-government structure for the capital. Abdixhiku stated that municipal leaders possess the prerogative to forge agreements aligned with the support of their constituents.

However, he clarified that the LDK has not reached a formal agreement with the PDK at the party level. “Mayors have the right to make agreements for the majority they consider, but I cannot say that we have an agreement with the PDK,” Abdixhiku asserted. The specific terms of the agreement will see the PDK assume control over seven directorial positions within Pristina.

Abdixhiku also reported having communicated with PDK Chairman Bedri Hamza, who reportedly confirmed the details of the arrangement. The developments represent a shift in political dynamics within the municipality and underscore ongoing negotiations surrounding governance structures. The LDK’s position remains one of cautious observation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a distinct party agreement while acknowledging the PDK’s actions.
