Director of Agriculture in Rahovec: Damage from floods exceeds 400 thousand euros, Government must help farmers

Behar Thaqi, the Director of the Horticulture Department in the Municipality of Rahovec, has reported substantial damage to both agricultural resources and local infrastructure following recent heavy rainfall and strong winds. Speaking on the impact, Thaqi emphasized that the damage within the agricultural sector has been particularly significant. He detailed that the most affected crops include pepper, eggplant, and melon.

According to the director, the overall damage sustained by the local farming community requires immediate attention. Specifically, Thaqi noted that the strong winds experienced on October 27th alone accounted for estimated damages amounting to approximately 100,000 euros. He indicated that the adverse conditions have caused losses dating back to that date.

Given the scale of the losses across the primary sectors of agriculture, Thaqi issued a formal appeal to the Government of Kosovo. He urged governmental intervention to provide necessary support and assistance to the affected farmers. The assessment highlights the critical need for aid to help the local economy recover from the weather-related setbacks.
