DPA: 1,161 reports of tax evasion in North Macedonia

Tax evasion continues to pose a significant challenge to institutions, negatively impacting the collection of state budget revenues. Despite the availability of mechanisms for citizens to report various tax irregularities, the volume of complaints suggests that concerns regarding the avoidance of fiscal obligations persist. Data from the Directorate of Public Revenue (DAP) illustrates this ongoing issue.

In 2025, the DAP received 897 reports. Furthermore, in the first five months of 2026 alone, an additional 264 reports were registered. According to the DAP, both individual citizens and legal entities regularly submit reports and complaints concerning potential tax irregularities and instances of tax evasion.

The agency notes that multiple channels are available for the submission of these reports. The continuous flow of submissions from citizens and legal entities underscores the sustained vigilance regarding compliance with fiscal duties. These reports serve as crucial indicators of the scope of potential tax avoidance within the economy.

The consistent submission of these complaints highlights the ongoing efforts by the public and the regulatory body to address gaps in tax compliance and strengthen the integrity of state revenue collection.
