Dragashi faces difficulties with water supply, Municipality blames drought and increased consumption

The Municipality of Dragash has issued a statement addressing the current difficulties concerning the supply of drinking water within the town. The local government attributed the strain on the water system to a combination of factors, including elevated consumption levels, high ambient temperatures, and a noticeable reduction in the flow of the Radeshë river. In a public announcement, the Municipality acknowledged the concerns raised by both residents and local businesses.

To manage the escalating situation, the mayor, Bexhet Xheladani, has assigned the deputy mayor, Vetim Ramadani, to oversee and coordinate all necessary mitigation actions. The official statement from the municipality sought to clarify the cause of the shortage, asserting that the difficulties were not the result of intentional action or institutional oversight. According to the release, the decline in the water supply is primarily linked to “a sharp increase in consumption during days with high temperatures, and the increase in…” (the full statement cited the contributing factors).

The municipality emphasized that the current strain is a direct consequence of environmental and usage patterns. Authorities are coordinating efforts to manage the reduced reserves and stabilize the supply for the community. This proactive management effort aims to address the immediate challenges presented by the low water levels and fluctuating supply capacity.
