A police officer affiliated with the SPB Skopje is currently suspected of abusing his official position, an action that allegedly resulted in financial damage to the state budget amounting to at least 85,500 denars. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the misconduct reportedly occurred between April and July while the officer was stationed at the “City Parking” NP. The investigation suggests that the officer collected fines from citizens in cash.
Furthermore, authorities suspect that he retained certain equipment rather than properly registering these payments through the designated POS terminal. Specific allegations detail that for multiple instances of traffic violations, the officer allegedly utilized payment evidence linked to other individuals and various unrelated cases, while the collected funds were suspected of not being properly remitted. The Prosecutor’s Office also suspects that the police officer improperly allowed several individuals to receive reductions or exemptions from mandated fines.
Given the gravity of these allegations, the court, acting at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, has imposed a pre-trial detention period of eight days. The investigation centers on the misuse of authority by the police officer, whose actions are currently under judicial review.
