Two individuals died on Sunday in the village of Maznik, located in Deçani, following an incident involving contact with an electric current. According to a statement issued by the local police, the Deçani Police Station received notification from QKMF-Deçani around 8:40 PM regarding two people who had sustained severe injuries suspected to result from electrical contact. These victims were subsequently transported to the Peja Regional Hospital for emergency treatment.
Investigators from the Regional Investigation Sector in DRP-Peja arrived at the scene, where preliminary findings suggest the casualties made contact with electrical energy while washing a vehicle in their yard. Despite immediate intervention by the medical team at the regional hospital’s emergency room in Peja, the death of both victims was confirmed around 9:20 PM. Following the confirmation of fatalities, the bodies were transported to the Institute under the order of the State Prosecutor.
The police confirmed that the initial response managed to secure the area and document the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the precise cause of the electrical contact. The incident highlights the dangers associated with household electrical systems and the necessity of caution in domestic activities.
