Fewer limitations, more intelligence – ChatGPT is updated for millions of users

OpenAI has announced several updates regarding ChatGPT access and its underlying AI architecture. For free users, the primary change is the removal of limitations on text conversations, allowing for unlimited text usage. However, restrictions on capabilities such as image generation, file uploads, and voice interaction will remain in place for this tier of users.

The platform’s default model for all accounts will transition to GPT-5.6 Luna. OpenAI states that this new iteration demonstrates enhanced accuracy compared to the existing GPT-5.5 Instant model, reporting a reduction of 62% in factual errors. Additionally, both free users and those on the Go plan will gain access to a new feature called the “Think” button, designed to assist the model in formulating more comprehensive responses to complex queries.

Subscribers to the Plus and Pro plans will receive specialized enhancements through the GPT-5.6 Sol model. This version is specifically optimized for advanced tasks, including internet research, detailed writing, strategic planning, and decision-making processes. These premium features provide advanced functionality tailored for professional workflows.

These updates aim to segment capabilities while improving the overall reliability and depth of the AI output across different user levels.
