Filip’s Take on the Prespa Agreement: The Bold Policies That Brought Macedonia to NATO, The Cowards Are Now Keeping It In Place

Venko Filipçe, leader of the LSDM, stated that decisive policies were instrumental in Macedonia’s accession to NATO, suggesting that current leadership is failing to sustain the progress. Filipçe highlighted the significance of the Prespa Agreement, asserting that it resolved a protracted, decades-long dispute over the nation’s name with Greece. He indicated that this resolution provided a crucial opportunity for the country’s state, security, and economic development.

According to Filipçe, the successful integration into NATO, which occurred eight years prior to his statement, positioned the nation within a major military alliance. He argued that NATO membership serves to encourage foreign investment into the country, a trend he observed during his tenure. However, he criticized the current administration, claiming it was not effectively utilizing these advantages.

“Unfortunately, this government is not doing this, is not practicing it, they simply do not have the capacity to manage the economy as it should be,” Filipçe stated. He maintained that the Prespa Agreement successfully concluded the long-standing dispute with Greece. Furthermore, he emphasized that the country’s status as a member of NATO provides inherent benefits that the current government is failing to capitalize on for national economic management.
