A joint operation involving the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo and the Kosovo Police has resulted in the arrest of five individuals in connection with the case designated “Reçaku II,” an investigation focused on alleged war crimes. During a press conference following the operation, Special Prosecutor Ilir Morina confirmed that the detentions were executed pursuant to a court order. Morina stated that the arrests targeted suspects implicated in the massacre that occurred at Reçaku.

Complementing this announcement, Bashkim Spahiu, the Director of the War Crimes Investigation Directorate of the Kosovo Police, provided further details regarding the operation. Spahiu confirmed that the five individuals who were arrested are identified as Serbs and Kosovo citizens. He also noted that efforts were made to apprehend another suspect, who managed to evade capture.

Spahiu further reported that substantial evidence was successfully secured by authorities during the course of the operation. The joint effort underscores the ongoing commitment by both the prosecution and law enforcement agencies to investigate and address allegations of war crimes related to the region. The coordination between the prosecutor’s office and the police suggests a methodical approach to gathering evidence and bringing suspects before the court system based on judicial mandates.
