Footage of some of the 200 powerful attacks in Moscow released

Moscow experienced a significant drone attack this morning, with much of the visual documentation of the strikes circulating on social media. The published footage depicts drones impacting both civilian and industrial sites within the capital. One widely circulated image shows a drone striking a high-rise residential building in Moscow.

The video captures the drone’s engine sound as it flies low over the residential area before colliding with the upper floors, resulting in an explosion and subsequent fire. Another incident documented involved a strike on an oil refinery in the Kapotnya area of Moscow. This impact caused a substantial explosion after hitting a large fuel tank, propelling the tank’s metal lid several dozen meters into the air.

Following the blast, a large cloud of black smoke was visible over the industrial zone. The attacks also led to temporary disruptions at Moscow’s primary airports, including Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky, necessitating the diversion of numerous aircraft. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that Russian air defenses intercepted a significant number of incoming drones and asserted that the damage was limited.

However, footage provided by local residents indicated direct impacts on city structures. Reports suggest the oil refinery in Kapotnya was a primary target, an area that has been struck previously. Attacks on Russian energy infrastructure are understood to be part of Ukraine’s strategy aimed at degrading Russia’s logistical capabilities and fuel supplies.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha suggested that Russia could cease attacking Ukrainian cities to bring an end to the conflict. This latest assault occurs amid an escalation of the air conflict between Moscow and Kyiv, with both sides increasingly deploying long-range drones against strategic assets.
