The Basic Court in Pristina has issued a conviction, finding the accused Shaqir Lutvija guilty of war crimes committed in Prizren. The details of the ruling were announced on Tuesday by the judicial body’s head, Kujtim Krasniqi, alongside members Violeta Namani-Hajra and Rrahman Beqiri, according to reports. During the proceedings, Judge Krasniqi clarified several aspects of the sentence handed down during the trial.
He confirmed that any time Shaqir Lutvija spent in pre-trial detention will be credited toward the final prison sentence. This provision remains in effect until the trial is fully concluded, but it cannot exceed the length of the sentence imposed. In addition to the custodial sentence, the court mandated that the accused must cover the procedural costs associated with the criminal case.
Specifically, Lutvija is ordered to pay 400 euros for judicial non-attendance and an additional 100 euros to the Fund for the Compensation of Crime Victims. The ruling also addressed the rights of the victims. Regarding the realization of supplementary-legal claims, affected parties have been directed to the contest of rr to pursue their claims.
