Four newly appointed public prosecutors were elected to the Public Basic Prosecutor’s Office for the Pursuit of Organized Crime and Corruption in Kosovo.

The Public Prosecutors Council convened today for its 40th session, reaching a key decision regarding the Basic Public Prosecutors’ Office for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption. The council formally appointed Engjëllushe Kadriu-Leshi, Aleksandar Markovski, Ana Gogovska-Jakimovska, and Ana Stojqiq-Dimitriovska as new public prosecutors. Council Chairman Bashkim Selimi initially stated that eight candidates had applied for the competition to fill five positions within the basic prosecutorial unit dedicated to combating organized crime and corruption.

However, two candidates, Trajçe Pelivanov and Artan Ajro, subsequently withdrew their candidacies and will not be part of the selection process. Following a thorough review of all applications, the council ultimately declined to support the candidacy of Marija Gorgjieva, Valentina Bislimovska, Suzana Mirçeska-Kuzmanovska, and Ivana Aleksovska-Trajçev. This decision solidifies the appointment of the four newly selected public prosecutors, ensuring continued efforts by the prosecutors in handling complex cases within the basic office.
