On August 30, 2026, marking the International Day of Disappeared Persons, commemorative activities took place in Geneva focused on those forcibly disappeared and the families awaiting answers regarding their loved ones. Atdhe Hetemi, Executive Director of IKKL, participated in the events held in the Swiss city. Hetemi began his day by attending the opening of the exhibition titled “Still Waiting?”.
The exhibit, created by artist Artan Korenica, was hosted at the Ferme de la Golette in Meyrin. The exhibition was jointly organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Kosovo in Geneva and the institution Jardin des disparus – The Garden of the Disappeared. The display served as a focal point for remembrance, drawing attention to the enduring mystery surrounding the fate of missing persons.
Following the exhibition opening, Hetemi joined the March for Justice, an event organized under the banner, “As long as we remember, they live.” These commemorative gatherings in Geneva underscore the persistent struggle for accountability and truth. The day provided a platform for international dialogue concerning the rights of disappeared persons and the critical need for definitive information regarding their whereabouts and fate. The participation highlighted ongoing international efforts to support families seeking closure and justice for those who remain unaccounted for.
