The Basic Court in Pristina was unable to conduct a scheduled hearing regarding singer Besart Kelmendi, widely known as Gjesti. The proceedings were set to address three criminal charges leveled against the accused: “Illegal Possession of Weapons,” “Incitement,” and “Damage or Deprivation of Property.” The primary reason cited for the adjournment of the session was the absence of Kelmendi. During the proceedings, the defense attorney, Burim Azemi, stated that he received notification via message that the singer would be unable to attend the court date.
Azemi commented that while he could not verify the exact circumstances surrounding the absence, he confirmed that Gjesti had informed him that his appearance was impossible on that day. Azemi added that he had not received any subsequent communication from the accused and noted that Gjesti was currently in Albania for a concert engagement. The public prosecutor, Malart Kuçi, was present at the session, while a representative for the opposing party was also noted to be absent.
Consequently, the court could not proceed with the scheduled examination of evidence or testimony involving Gjesti. The inability of the accused to appear resulted in the suspension of the hearing, pending the next scheduled date.
