Governor Ismaili stated to Bloomberg: Kosovo is heading towards a record of foreign direct investment.

Kosovo is poised to welcome a historic high in foreign investment, with the total value exceeding one billion euros for the first time ever. This milestone was announced by the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (BCRK), Ahmet Ismaili, to the global news source, Bloomberg. The Governor highlighted a substantial 30 percent rise in foreign direct investments compared to the prior year, observed in 2025.

This growth was fueled by investments across several key sectors, including real estate, services, and notably, technology and cybersecurity. Ahmet Ismaili emphasized the primary origin of these investments stemmed from Kosovo’s thriving diaspora. “We anticipate this upward trend will persist for a considerable duration, establishing a robust base for future expansion,” he told Bloomberg News.

The nation’s economic structure is heavily reliant on remittances, representing a substantial portion of its overall financial activity. Governor Ismaili’s statements underscore the positive trajectory of investment within Kosovo, driven largely by the diaspora and focused on strategic sectors.
