VLEN Criticizes BDI Actions, Claims Legacy of Undermined Progress
VLEN has issued a statement regarding ongoing tensions involving BDI leader Xhafer Grubi and the detention of Ahmet, expressing concern over the BDI’s recent actions. The statement asserts that “it is sad to see BDI slipping into the mud.”
For two decades, VLEN maintained a significant role within Albanian political structures, a period the organization describes as extending beyond superficial political maneuvers. VLEN argues that the BDI’s focus lacked sustained, strategic efforts to address longstanding issues concerning Albanian rights.
Instead, the organization contends that the BDI’s tenure resulted in a legacy of insufficient and outdated tools, primarily utilized to conceal the alleged illicit enrichment of BDI officials. The statement sharply criticizes claims regarding the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement, the advancement of European integration, and the continued strategic partnership with the United States. VLEN views these assertions as “offensive and extremely low.”
The situation involves Grubi holding Ahmet, and VLEN’s response underscores a fundamental disagreement regarding the direction and impact of recent political developments within Albania.
