Former Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) deputy Xhavit Haliti has publicly suggested that the party should consider the possibility of forming a political agreement with the Vetëvendosje Movement. According to Haliti, any potential cooperation between the two groups must be predicated on establishing a unified governing program, rather than being confined solely to the election of a president. Speaking on the “Intervista e Javës” program broadcast by KosovaPress, Haliti asserted that if an agreement is reached between the parties, it must guarantee a cohesive governing platform intended to last throughout the full four-year term.
He cautioned that while the presidency is a component of political maneuvering, the foundational focus must remain on establishing a comprehensive coalition government structure. Haliti acknowledged that there are dissenting voices within the PDK regarding such a partnership, stressing that any internal disagreement must be addressed through democratic processes. He emphasized that the immediate priority for the party should be solidifying a governing framework.
He stated that while the matter of the presidency can be addressed, it must follow the establishment of a functional coalition government. Haliti suggested that the PDK should not prematurely rule out the viability of a broad political agreement if the governance blueprint is sound.
