Haradinaj on his costume: It is of the Habsburgs, they were enemies of enemies

Haradinaj Wears Historical Costume, Links it to Strategic Alliances

Kosovo Alliance for the Future of Kosovo chairman, Ramush Haradinaj, was observed wearing a traditional costume during an event on June 6th, 2026. When questioned about the costume’s significance, Haradinaj stated it originates from a region associated with the Habsburgs. He explained that the garment represents a traditional costume from a German-speaking area.

Haradinaj asserted that the Habsburgs, who historically existed as enemies of the Serbian empire, engaged in military action against it. “This is simply a traditional costume, representing a part of the German-speaking areas,” Haradinaj clarified. “During their rule, the Habsburgs were considered enemies of our enemies, actively attacking the then-Serbian empire.”

Notably, Haradinaj referenced the existence of “Habsburg Square” in Kosovo, highlighting the historical context of the costume’s symbolism.

The association of the Habsburgs with opposing the Serbian empire was central to Haradinaj’s explanation regarding the costume’s intended meaning.
