Haradinaj seeks a memorial ceremony for Eliot Engel and the decision to place a permanent memorial within the institution’s premises.

Kosovo Parliament to Hold Memorial Ceremony for Eliot Engel

Kosovo’s Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader, Ramush Haradinaj, has submitted a formal request to the Parliament to organize a memorial ceremony in recognition of Eliot Engel. The proposal seeks to honor Engel, a significant ally of Albanians, and acknowledge his contributions to Kosovo’s development. Haradinaj stated that the initiative aims to express the Parliament’s gratitude for Engel’s sustained support of Kosovo’s freedom, independence, and the process of state-building.

He characterized Engel as a “powerful voice” during critical periods for the nation. The proposed memorial would include a special session within the Parliament, the creation of an annual “Eliot Engel” award, and the establishment of a permanent memorial display within the institution’s facilities. Haradinaj emphasized that recognizing the friendships of those who supported Kosovo is considered an institutional and national obligation.

The move reflects a desire to formally acknowledge Engel’s longstanding commitment to the country’s progress. The request is now under consideration by the Kosovo Parliament.
