Hargreaves on meetings with Macedonia and Greece: Support for North Macedonia for rapprochement with NATO structures

The British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, emphasized that European security remains a cornerstone of the deep friendship and strategic partnership between the United Kingdom and Kosovo. Following recent high-level discussions, Ambassador Hargreaves commended the meeting held with key security officials, including the Kosovo Security Force Commander, Lieutenant General Bashkim Jašari, and the Acting Minister of Defence, Maqedonci, alongside the Defence Attaché and Defence Advisor. During the discussions, Hargreaves reported that the parties reaffirmed their mutual dedication to supporting the ongoing development of the Kosovo Security Force.

A major focus of the talks was ensuring the force’s alignment with established NATO standards and structures. Furthermore, the dialogue aimed at significantly strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Kosovo institutions and the United Kingdom’s Armed Forces. Ambassador Hargreaves stated that this enhanced cooperation is critical for establishing a more secure future, not only for Kosovo but for the stability of the wider regional area.

The commitment underscores the sustained UK interest in bolstering regional security frameworks through robust defence partnerships. The dialogue confirmed a shared vision for enhancing institutional capacity and interoperability, reinforcing the foundational elements of the UK-Kosovo defence relationship.
