Albulena Haxhiu, representing the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, participated in the Ninth Conference on Health, Well-being, Education, and Children’s Rights. During the conference, Haxhiu addressed the ongoing status of child welfare in Kosovo, acknowledging the advancements and improvements achieved in the sector. However, she emphasized that significant challenges persist for children.
Haxhiu noted that while progress has been made, the most pronounced issue remains the disparity between established rights on paper and their practical implementation in daily life. She stated that the fundamental needs of children are not overly complex, focusing instead on core aspects of security and belonging. According to Haxhiu, the primary concerns revolve around ensuring that no child is left vulnerable, excluded, or stigmatized due to familial poverty.
She stressed the necessity of comprehensive support systems for children facing difficulties in various developmental areas. These areas include speech, behavior, learning capabilities, and mental health. Her address highlighted that support cannot be limited to platitudes; rather, it must involve tangible care.
Haxhiu urged that the notion that difficult situations will simply “pass” should not negate the immediate need for professional attention and intervention. The participation of Haxhiu at the conference underscored the commitment of the presidential office to advocating for systemic improvements to guarantee that the stated rights of every child are fully realized.
