According to reports from journalist Kleida Muka, Shakaj allegedly shot Koçi in the back before disposing of the body in a ravine located near the village of Cerrujë. Koçi had been missing for approximately two weeks.
Following the initial disappearance, extensive search operations were launched by local police forces, augmented by Kosovo security personnel and drone technology. After two weeks of searching, the remains of Eglant Koçi, aged 34, were eventually found in a state of decomposition. The victim was identified by family members at the Tirana morgue when the coffin was opened.
