Horse blocked more than 2 meters underground, rescued after a dramatic operation – footage from Venezuela

A horse became trapped more than two meters underground after a section of unpaved road collapsed beneath it in La Grita, Táchira, Venezuela. The animal was partially covered by mud and was reportedly too exhausted to free itself. In response, firefighters and local residents initiated an effort to rescue the trapped animal.

The rescue operation involved carefully removing the mud covering and freeing the horse’s front legs. When it became apparent that the horse lacked the strength to exit the pit independently, rescuers secured its body. Subsequently, an excavator was utilized to slowly lift the animal from the excavation site.

Following the successful extraction, a veterinarian examined the horse. Fortunately, the veterinary check confirmed that the animal had returned to its owner in good health. The incident highlights the efforts undertaken by community members and emergency personnel to assist trapped livestock.
