Hoxha: Digital Registry for Air Pollutants

Environment Minister Muhamet Hoxha unveiled plans for a crucial digital platform, the Pollutant Registry, during a recent press conference. He highlighted this initiative as a vital tool for bolstering transparency and accountability within environmental practices. Hoxha emphasized that the systematic gathering and public release of data concerning emissions, waste management, and resource consumption would furnish dependable and directly comparable information.

This registry is designed to exert positive pressure on businesses to consistently meet established benchmarks. Hoxha further detailed ongoing efforts to develop the new Law on Industrial Emission Control, slated for implementation in 2027. Simultaneously, the government is focusing on reinforcing oversight and enhancing the capabilities of the state laboratory.

The minister indicated that a formal discussion is scheduled to take place regarding these developments. Hoxha believes that the Pollutant Registry will be a cornerstone in monitoring and regulating industrial activities. The project’s success hinges on the reliable collection and dissemination of information, ultimately driving improved environmental performance.

Hoxha’s vision centers around a robust system for tracking and reporting, ensuring greater scrutiny and responsible resource management.
