Hoxhaj Criticizes European Response to Kosovo’s Council of Europe Application
Kosovo’s former Parliament member, Enver Hoxhaj, has strongly criticized the continued rejection of Kosovo’s application for membership within the Council of Europe. Speaking on Klan Kosova, Hoxhaj asserted that the situation transcends a simple external issue, demanding a fundamental assessment of Europe’s approach to the country. “It is impossible to view this rejection solely as an external problem,” Hoxhaj stated.
“One must be a humiliated state if a request for membership in the Council of Europe is not considered after so many years. Such an ignoring would only be done to North Korea.” He argued that Europe’s handling of Kosovo’s application demonstrates a complete disregard for its status. Hoxhaj attributed the prolonged inaction to a lack of internal seriousness within Kosovo’s institutions and persistent failures in leadership.
He emphasized that the continued delay represents a significant challenge for the country’s integration into European structures. The rejection of Kosovo’s application to the Council remains a contentious issue, with Hoxhaj’s comments highlighting concerns about the ongoing political dynamics surrounding the country’s aspirations for membership.
