IKShPK calls for caution regarding high temperatures: Do not leave children alone in cars, check on the elderly

The Kosovo National Institute of Public Health (IKShPK) has issued a notice advising the public to exercise increased caution during days characterized by high temperatures. The Institute urges citizens to take proactive measures to protect the most vulnerable populations and to remain aware of the warning signs associated with heat risk. A primary focus of the IKShPK’s appeal is directed toward the elderly, particularly those who reside independently or spend significant time in isolation.

The Institute strongly recommends that these individuals be contacted at least once daily to confirm their well-being and ascertain if they require any form of assistance. Furthermore, the IKShpk issued a specific warning regarding child safety. The public is reminded that leaving children unattended in a parked vehicle poses a serious danger, as the internal temperature can escalate rapidly, creating hazardous conditions.

The IKShPK stresses that vigilance is necessary across the community to mitigate risks associated with extreme heat. Adherence to public health guidelines is crucial to ensuring the safety and welfare of all residents as temperatures rise.
