The finals of the inaugural State Cybersecurity Championship in Kosovo were held today at IPKO, an initiative established to identify and cultivate emerging talent within the vital sector of digital economy and society. The championship marked a significant benchmark for developing local expertise in cybersecurity. The competition was highly rigorous, involving over 100 candidates from across Kosovo who successfully navigated four preceding qualifying rounds.
The final stage presented the top 25 participants with advanced technical challenges. These assessments covered critical areas of modern cybersecurity, including reverse engineering, web security, cryptography, binary exploitation, and comprehensive cybersecurity analysis. The objective of the championship is twofold: to foster technical proficiency within Kosovo’s tech sector and to build a competitive national team.
The highest-ranking contestants from this event will form the official team representing Kosovo at the European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC) 2026. This ECSC is recognized as the most prestigious European competition in the field of cybersecurity, scheduled to take place from October 12 to 16 in Bologna. The success of the championship underscores the growing commitment to professionalizing the cybersecurity workforce within the nation.
By providing a structured platform like IPKO, the event aims to ensure that Kosovo remains competitive on the international stage, developing skilled professionals capable of addressing complex digital security threats.
