IQMT closes six businesses and fines six others in action against cryptocurrencies and foreign exchange

The Central Market Supervision Inspectorate (IQMT) has commenced an inspection initiative targeting enterprises within the cryptocurrency and foreign exchange sectors. This action is part of the broader implementation of the market supervision operational plan. According to an IQMT announcement, the inspections were conducted on the first day across several municipalities, including Pristina, Gjilan, Gjakova, Prizren, Podujeva, Rahovec, and Suharek.

The primary objective of the inspections was to verify that the operating entities were compliant with all requisite legal standards for conducting these specific financial activities. During this enforcement action, a total of sixteen businesses were inspected by the iqmt. The results indicated several instances of non-compliance.

Specifically, six entities were issued a suspension measure regarding their operations. The primary reason cited for this suspension was the failure to possess mandatory documentation, most notably the required approval confirming adherence to minimum technical standards. Furthermore, an additional six businesses were also subject to regulatory action, though the specific nature of their respective non-compliance was not detailed in the initial report.

The iqmt continues its oversight efforts to ensure market integrity across these regulated sectors.
