The Institute of Public Health has issued specific recommendations for the residents of Gostivar following the suspension of the use of the city’s main water supply for drinking purposes. This mandate was issued by the Food and Veterinary Agency on February 17. The Institute of Public Health urges all citizens to strictly follow these guidelines until official confirmation from competent authorities declares the water safe for consumption once more.
Currently, the water provided by the municipal water supply system is not suitable for drinking, even after boiling, unless further directives are released by relevant institutions. For all necessary uses, citizens are advised to exclusively utilize factory-packaged water. This precaution applies to drinking purposes, as well as food preparation, washing fresh fruits and vegetables, making ice, and preparing beverages such as coffee and tea.
Furthermore, liquids and baby food must be prepared using only bottled water sources. These recommendations are crucial for protecting public health while the water supply remains compromised. The Institute stresses adherence to these guidelines to ensure the safety of all citizens.
