Janevska: No teacher will rest from work, but we are improving the quality of education

During a press conference at the Government building, the Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, addressed ongoing concerns regarding the optimization of the national school network. While acknowledging public reactions to the restructuring process, Janevska issued a definitive statement assuring that no current teacher will face dismissal due to these adjustments. However, Janevska also highlighted significant demographic shifts within the sector, noting that student enrollment has declined by 17,000 over the past seven years.

In presenting the Ministry’s report covering the last two years, she outlined the department’s strategic focus. Speaking about her tenure, Janevska recalled that when she assumed office two years prior, she identified substantial systemic deficiencies within the education framework. She emphasized that the current administrative priority is shifting the focus toward enhancing the quality of education and scientific standards.

She stated that the Ministry has successfully mitigated a previously observed decline in educational standards. Janevska affirmed that through responsible and dedicated work by staff, the sector is now moving toward an upward trajectory. Her address served to reassure the public and educational workforce regarding job security while simultaneously detailing the necessary structural improvements required to elevate the overall quality of the educational experience.
