American professor Edward P. Joseph has advised the Kosovo government to pursue the American gas project and enhance cooperation with the United States in the energy sector. According to Professor Joseph, embracing this initiative would significantly bolster Kosovo’s energy security while simultaneously strengthening bilateral relations with the US.
Joseph emphasized the necessity of the government adopting the project and collaborating closely with the U.S. Embassy and relevant US government officials. He stated that this adoption is crucial given its direct implications for the nation’s energy stability.
In his commentary, Joseph contrasted the proposed natural gas infrastructure with existing energy sources, specifically mentioning coal. He argued that while coal is currently available, its use carries substantial environmental drawbacks and does not align with Kosovo’s long-term developmental goals. “The Kosovo government should adopt it and should work with the United States Embassy and US government officials, and it must adopt this,” Joseph asserted.
He added that there is no justifiable reason to withhold this action because it directly pertains to Kosovo’s energy security. He concluded by noting that while coal is an option, it is “very damaging and has many negative factors,” suggesting that natural gas represents a more progressive path forward for the country.
