A fire has spread through areas with dry grass in the village of Ballancë, located within the Viti Municipality. Efforts to contain the blaze are being complicated by strong winds, according to the Viti Fire Unit Commander, Hetem Jakupi. Jakupi confirmed that fire teams are currently fully deployed to the scene.
“A fire has been reported in the village of Ballancë, where areas with dry grass have been engulfed by flames,” Jakupi stated. He added that the strong winds present a risk of further fire spread. He emphasized that the primary objectives for the responding firefighters are the protection of human life, private property, and agricultural land.
“The priority of our teams is to protect life, property, and especially the fields with crops, so that the livelihood of our farmers does not burn,” Jakupi noted. The focus remains on mitigating the spread of the fire while ensuring the safety of residents and safeguarding local agricultural resources. Authorities are managing the situation with heightened caution due to the unpredictable nature of the weather conditions exacerbating the blaze.
