KE: The situation at the Serbian-Montenegrin border points must return to normal

The European Commission addressed recent events concerning the movement of people between Montenegro and Serbia. The Commission acknowledged the decision by Montenegrin border authorities at Tivat Airport to deny entry and return a group of Serbian citizens to Belgrade. According to Telegrafi, the European Commission stated, “We are aware of the decision of the Montenegrin border authorities to prohibit the entry of a certain number of persons from Serbia for security reasons and in accordance with their national legislation.”

Addressing reports detailing difficulties faced by numerous Montenegrin citizens attempting to enter Serbia, the Commission issued an encouragement for a return to normal operational activities.

The Commission noted that former heads of Montenegrin police are currently prohibited from entering Serbia. Furthermore, the body indicated that it is actively monitoring the situation at the Serbian border crossings. The Commission urged a return to standard procedures with the stated goal of normalizing cross-border movement.
