Major General Ozkan Ulutash, the Commander of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), has indicated that the proliferation of disinformation and inflammatory language can directly impact the overall security environment within Kosovo. Speaking in an interview with Telegrafi, Ulutash provided an assessment of the country’s current stability while cautioning against complacency regarding underlying tensions. While acknowledging that the security situation in the northern regions of Kosovo is presently calm, Ulutash stressed that several unresolved issues necessitate continuous and focused attention from all parties involved.
He elaborated that the combination of these persistent structural challenges, coupled with instances of unnecessary public rhetoric and repeated disinformation campaigns, collectively exerts a direct influence on the region’s stability. “As I stated previously, there remain unresolved issues, along with periodic unnecessary rhetoric and the circulation of disinformation. These combined aspects have a direct impact on the security situation,” Ulutash stated during the “Përballje Podcast.” He emphasized that due to this complex interplay of factors, KFOR maintains a high level of readiness.
The Commander confirmed that KFOR continues to uphold its mandate by maintaining a heightened state of vigilance across the operational area to ensure the safety and security of all residents and international personnel.
