Kosovo Customs prevents attempt to smuggle undeclared goods in Vërmicë

Kosovo Customs authorities intercepted an attempt to smuggle undeclared goods at the Vërmicë Border Crossing Point during routine inspections of vehicles entering the Republic of Kosovo. According to an official Customs notice, the interception occurred when a customs officer selected a vehicle bearing foreign license plates for a detailed examination. During the physical inspection of the luggage within the vehicle, officials discovered items that had not been properly declared to customs authorities.

The Customs notice further specified that, based on a preliminary assessment by the Customs Valuation Sector, the value of the undeclared goods was estimated at approximately 8,000 euros. Customs officials stated that the diligence of the officers was instrumental in preventing the illegal entry of these goods into the customs territory of Kosovo. The statement emphasized that such smuggling activities undermine fair competition within the region.

The operation underscores the ongoing role of customs enforcement in maintaining the integrity of Kosovo’s border controls. The seizure highlights the continuous vigilance of customs personnel tasked with securing the border against illicit trade.
