Kosovo is reported to be among the nations in the Balkans with the highest utilization of the internet for online television and video content. However, a separate analysis indicates that Albanians consume less online TV and video content compared to other European nations, showing a stronger preference for gaming and news consumption. According to recent Eurostat data, Albania ranks among European countries with lower engagement with video streaming via the internet.
In 2024, only 49.91% of Albanian internet users reported watching TV or video through the internet, which falls significantly below the European Union average of 78.75%. Among the European countries for which Eurostat provided data, only Romania recorded a lower usage rate at 43.99%. Following Albania, Bulgaria reported a usage rate of 55.07%.
In contrast, the majority of European countries showed that over two-thirds of their populations utilized video streaming services over the internet. This data suggests a notable difference in how online media consumption habits are established across the region.
