Kosovo will witness the Great Solar Eclipse of 2026 – Hyseni Primavera gives details

A significant celestial event is scheduled for August 12, 2026: a solar eclipse. This event is anticipated to be one of the most notable astronomical occurrences in Europe over the next decade. During the day, observers will have the opportunity to witness the Moon partially obscuring the Sun.

Depending on the location, the coverage will vary significantly. Across much of Europe, including France, Belgium, Switzerland, and northern Italy, observers are expected to see an eclipse covering between 88% and 95% of the Sun’s surface. More dramatic viewing opportunities are available in specific northern regions.

Spectators located in parts of Greenland, Iceland, and Northern Spain are predicted to witness a total solar eclipse. Kosovar astronomer Pranvera Hyseni has confirmed the visibility of this solar eclipse in Kosovo as well. She provided an explanation of the natural event, noting that a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, resulting in a partial or total covering of the Sun’s light.

The prospect of witnessing this powerful natural phenomenon has generated considerable interest among scientific and general audiences alike.
