Kurti says the Office ends the “small profit, big reward” order.

Kurti Announces New Office to Combat Illegally Acquired Assets

PRISHTINA – Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti expressed gratitude to the parliamentary deputies following the first reading approval of the draft law on State Offices for Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets on April 20, 2026. Kurti emphasized the significance of the law in addressing illicit wealth accumulation within the country. The Prime Minister acknowledged the challenges encountered during the legislative process, noting significant opposition and complaints submitted to the Constitutional Court.

“We know that the name of the law has confused many,” Kurti stated. “Therefore, the opposition has been significant, even wrapped up as complaints to the Constitutional Court, but we will not and will not stop. We will fulfill this commitment.”

Kurti explained that the establishment of the State Offices is a crucial step in shifting the existing dynamic.

“The Office will be established, because with it we will finally end that order,” he says. The initiative aims to target and recover assets obtained through illegal means. The Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to pushing the draft through to its second reading, underlining the importance of the legislation in upholding the rule of law and combating corruption.
