Minister Ljutkov Highlights Ongoing Communication with UNESCO Regarding Heritage Protection

Belgrade – Minister of Culture and Tourism, Zoran Ljutkov, has indicated that a forthcoming visit by UNESCO representatives is expected in Serbia. Speaking on “TV21’s” “ClickPlus” program, Ljutkov addressed ongoing challenges related to the protection and management of the country’s cultural and natural heritage. He characterized the current situation as needing improvement, stating, “It is not good because we have the opportunity to explain to UNESCO the real problems.” Ljutkov believes that a full understanding of the circumstances within Serbia has not yet been achieved by the international organization.

The minister emphasized that institutions are maintaining continuous communication and monitoring with UNESCO and other international bodies. He acknowledged that certain issues will require revised approaches to ensure effective resolution. A delegation from the UNESCO commission is anticipated to arrive during May, though specific dates have not been confirmed.

Ljutkov’s comments underscore the importance of sustained dialogue between Serbia and UNESCO as the nation works to address concerns related to its protected sites.
