Lost Pages of Biblical Manuscript Recovered

Gazeta Express – April 24, 2026

Researchers have successfully reconstructed 42 previously lost pages from Codex H, a significant early Christian manuscript dating back to the 6th century. The discovery, announced today, offers a rare glimpse into texts not seen for centuries. Codex H is considered one of the most important early texts of the New Testament, containing copies of the letters attributed to St.

Paul. The manuscript originated at the Great Lavra Monastery in Greece and was fragmented during the Middle Ages. Following its destruction, pages were incorporated into other books, resulting in the dispersal of remaining fragments across European libraries.

An international team of researchers utilized advanced imaging techniques to digitally reconstruct the missing sections of the text. According to Garrick Allen from the University, the project involved painstaking analysis of the surviving fragments and the application of sophisticated digital modeling. The recovered pages represent a crucial step in understanding the transmission of early Christian writings.

The completed reconstruction allows scholars to examine the full text of Codex H, providing new insights into the development of early Christian theology and the circulation of Paul’s letters. Further research is planned to fully analyze the newly recovered material.
