The opposition LSDM has accused the government of failing to provide adequate compensation for farmers following recent storm damage. According to the LSDM, numerous crops in Strumica and surrounding municipalities were destroyed, leaving several families facing an uncertain financial future. The party asserts that the farmers have been left alone in the aftermath of the natural disaster.
Tanja Ilijoska, speaking on behalf of the LSDM, criticized the government’s response, stating that the current administration has demonstrated a disregard for the agricultural sector. She noted that this is not the first instance where farmers have been neglected during difficult times. Ilijoska also cited broader economic pressures, including cuts to farmer subsidies, reported chaos in the fields, below-market purchase prices, and an unstable plasman.
“We do not need a storm; the VMRO Government is the strongest storm for the farmers—it has devastated the entire sector,” Ilijoska declared. The LSDM formally demanded that the government convene an extraordinary session. The primary goal of this session, they insisted, must be to make immediate decisions regarding compensation and necessary financial aid for the farmers.
