Macedonia, 15,000 students registered in high schools, more than 9,000 spots remain open

For the 2026/2027 academic year, a total of 15,705 students were officially registered in public high schools across North Macedonia following the two scheduled registration periods. Despite this enrollment, the Ministry of Education and Science reported that over 9,000 educational spots projected by the ministry remained vacant. The registration process saw 13,423 students enroll during the first period, followed by an additional 2,927 students who registered during the second period.

Analysis of the registered student body by language reveals the following distribution: 11,171 students will study in the Macedonian language, 4,241 in Albanian, 279 in Turkish, and 14 in Serbian. In terms of educational focus, the majority of the graduating students opted for vocational training. Specifically, 10,823 students registered in vocational schools, while 4,653 students were registered for middle schools, and 229 students enrolled in the Sports Academy.

These figures represent the total count of students who successfully completed the documentation submission process for the upcoming academic year.
