Macedonian customs prevented the smuggling of two thousand medical ampoules; the state of Kosovo concealed them in the truck’s cabin.

A mobile team operating under the Department of Operations successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of medical supplies at the Deve Bair border crossing. The operation, detailed by Albanian Customs, involved a truck driver employed by a transport company based in Kosovo. The vehicle was initially transporting aluminum profiles originating from Turkey and destined for Kosovo.

During the routine inspection conducted by the mobile team, the driver was questioned regarding any goods beyond those declared. He stated that he had nothing further to declare. However, based on suspicion, the customs officials conducted a thorough inspection of the truck’s cabin.

This detailed search led to the discovery of 2,000 ampoules of a medical solution identified as “Gadovist 7.5 ml.” These vials were found concealed in various compartments within the cabin of the truck. The intervention by the border authorities effectively prevented the illicit cross-border movement of the pharmaceuticals. The seizure underscores the ongoing efforts by customs agencies to monitor and secure trade routes between neighboring countries.

The incident highlights the vigilance required at border crossings to deter the smuggling of regulated goods into Kosovo. The successful operation confirms the authorities’ capacity to detect undeclared items hidden within commercial cargo.
