Mickoski Attributes April Inflation Concerns to Airline Ticket Prices
In a statement released today, Prime Minister Hristjan Mickoski cited data from the State Market Inspectorate (ISHT) to address concerns regarding inflation in April. According to the Inspectorate’s figures, transportation services were the most expensive sector during the month, primarily driven by increases in prices for airline tickets on low-cost carriers. Mickoski indicated that these elevated prices would significantly impact the final inflation calculation for April.
He anticipates releasing the official inflation figures in the coming days. While acknowledging broader economic trends, the Prime Minister noted that food prices experienced a comparatively modest increase of less than one percent during April, compared to March. “Transportation services, namely tickets for low-cost airlines, have increased more, which will certainly influence the final amount of inflation for April,” Mickoski stated.
He further referenced rising inflation rates in the Eurozone, noting figures exceeding six percent in Bulgaria and approximately six percent in Croatia. The Prime Minister’s comments reflect ongoing scrutiny of inflationary pressures within the country and its regional economic partners.
