Mitrovica ‘under observation,’ installation of security cameras across the entire city begins

The Mayor of the Mitrovica Municipality, Faton Peci, has announced comprehensive measures aimed at bolstering public safety across the municipality through the systematic installation of security cameras. Peci confirmed that the deployment process has commenced at the municipal building and is scheduled for expansion throughout the entire city until the conclusion of this year. The initiative represents a significant upgrade to the public monitoring infrastructure within Mitrovica.

Peci addressed the current state of surveillance, noting that despite the area’s historical reputation for elevated risk levels, the municipality has previously lacked an integrated camera surveillance system. He characterized this gap as a key area of focus for current infrastructural investments. According to the Mayor, the primary objective underpinning these expenditures is ensuring the security and well-being of the local population.

Peci stated that the safety of the citizens remains the highest priority for municipal governance. Furthermore, he assured the public that all necessary civic institutions will continue to operate and serve the residents of mitrovica on a daily basis, regardless of the ongoing technological upgrades. The rollout of the new cameras is expected to establish a comprehensive monitoring network across various public zones, thereby enhancing visibility and deterring potential misconduct throughout the urban environment.

These ongoing installations signify a commitment by municipal authorities to modernize public safety protocols and provide a more secure environment for all residents and visitors to the city.
