On the evening of Saturday, July 11, authorities in Shkodra discovered a fatality on the Prekal-Kir road. Police reported that Aleksandër Koçeku was found dead inside a vehicle, having sustained a gunshot wound. Following the notification, police services immediately responded to the scene, and intensive searches are currently underway to locate and apprehend the suspected perpetrator(s).
The investigation has significant prior context. Aleksandër Koçeku was already under investigation regarding the murder of Pavlin Preka, a 20-year-old man. Preka was killed with six bullets in the yard of his apartment on February 27, 2025, in the village of Guci e Re.
Following that incident, Shkodra Police arrested Vasel Koçeku and Klaudio Lisaj, placing Aleksandër Koçeku under investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the conflict leading to the fatal shooting was rooted in a personal dispute, specifically involving family opposition to a relationship between the victim and the daughter of one of the suspects. Investigators are analyzing additional elements that may have escalated the conflict.
